Good to know

Puerto Rico was built as a holiday resort from the late 1960s, in a steep valley in the municipality of Mogán. White apartment blocks climb the hillsides above a sheltered beach and the harbour, and the harbour is why most visitors come.

What leaves from the harbour

Catamaran cruises, dolphin trips, sailing boats, fishing charters, jet skis and parasailing all leave from the quays. Ferries and glass-bottom boats run along the coast to Puerto de Mogán and Arguineguín, about half an hour each way, which is a pleasant way to spend a morning without a car.

Beaches

The town beach sits between the two sides of the harbour and is sheltered from the open sea. Playa de Amadores, a little to the west, is reached along the coastal path. Two breakwaters keep its water calm, which makes it popular with families.

Good to know

  • Every booked trip gives its own meeting point on the quay. Allow a few minutes to find it, because the harbour is busy in the morning.
  • Many trips offer pick-up from hotels along the south coast. The listing says which areas are covered.
