Good to know

Playa del Inglés grew up in the 1960s and 1970s behind a wide beach that runs south into the Maspalomas dunes. The Paseo Costa Canaria, a paved promenade, follows the coast from San Agustín past Playa del Inglés to the edge of the dunes, and it's the nicest way to get around on foot.

Things to do

  • Walk south along the sand and you're in the dune reserve within minutes. Stay on the marked paths there.
  • The Yumbo Centre is a shopping centre by day, and at night the heart of the island's gay scene, with bars and clubs. Maspalomas Pride takes place here every May.
  • Many tours pick up in Playa del Inglés: jeep safaris into the mountains, buggy tours, transfers to the boats in Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán, and day trips to Las Palmas.

Good to know

  • Pick-up is either at your hotel or at a set bus stop nearby. The listing says which, so check it the day before.
  • The mini-train that runs through the resort is an easy way to see it with small children.
